Via Ferrata

A via ferrata is a mountaineering route equipped with steel cables, ladders, metal catwalks and other structures that allow climbers to traverse rock faces or mountainous terrain safely.

Via ferrata trips are proposed as a partially individual activity. In fact, the Sport Service guarantees the logistical organisation (reservation of any cable cars, organisation of transport by public transport or private vehicles, provision of equipment) and at least one accompanying person on each trip.
The actual activity on the route, however, is carried out autonomously: this means that each participant is responsible for his or her own safety and must be totally autonomous in carrying out the progression manoeuvres during the ascent of the route.

Level

The activity is intended for people with previous climbing experience (indoor or outdoor) and proven resistance to vertigo.

For any information regarding the activity, clothing and the course, please contact the technical manager of the Via Ferrata's Sport Service: Giorgio Piffaretti.

Courses are offered during both the autumn and spring semesters. The detailed programme for the latter will be published during the spring semester.
