Cross-border loop tour

A hike of about 24 km, of medium difficulty, that crosses the border of Santa Margherita skirting the course of the Laveggio River.
The outing is led by University Sport mountain bike instructor Paolo Medolago.
Route
Departing from the Academy, travel to the Santa Margherita border passing along the Laveggio River. Passage around Bizzarone and arrival at Ronago. Return from Novazzano via Sant'Apollonia.
Route: Accademia Architettura – Bizzarone – Novazzano – Accademia Architettura.
Level
Medium, good physical condition required.
Riding MTB routes on mountain trails with obstacles requires good bicycle skills. The activity is not suitable for first-time single trail riders. It is important to consider your attendance according to physical exertion and commitment required. In case of doubt and/or questions contact sport@usi.ch.
When
The meeting is set for Thursday, July 24, at 4:45 p.m. in front of the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, via Villa Argentina Largo Bernasconi 2. Return expected around 7:30 p.m. to the Academy of Architecture.
Equipment
Participants should come in sportswear suitable for the activity.
We recommend bringing:
- comfortable clothing, preferably layered (long and short pants in backpack - sweatshirt and jacket);
- comfortable sneakers/trekking shoes;
- small hiking backpack;
- snack and an isotonic drink or water (at least 1 liter);
- headlamp (can be provided by the Sports Service upon advance request).
The bicycle (E-M'bike) and helmet are provided by the Sport Service.

- USI/SUPSI collaborators: 30CHF*
- Family members: 40 CHF
*Users holding a “Classes & Games” subscription get a 50% reduction.
Partecipation
The activity will be held only if at least 3 participants are reached, with a maximum of 5 people. In case of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled and all participants will receive a full refund.
Refund conditions
- Reimbursement of 100% upon presentation of a medical certificate
- Reimbursement of 80% by July 9
- 50% refund by July 16
No reimbursement less than one week after event, same as for non-attendance
To proceed with a refund request, contact Sport Service by email stating the event and reason for cancellation. Based on the date of the request, refund conditions will be applied.

Please be aware that the number of participants is limited and the order of entry of registrations/payment will be taken into account. It is not possible to reserve seats in advance without making payment.
