Complete bio Bixio Caprara

Bixio Caprara, aged 60, has been Deputy Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Sport (FOSPO) since 1 March 2025, and has served as a member of its executive board since 1997. That same year, he was appointed Head of the National Youth Sports Centre in Tenero (CST), a position he continues to hold. He plays an active role in the strategic leadership of FOSPO and in shaping the development of sport in Switzerland.

After earning his Level II diploma in physical education from ETH Zurich in 1988 (now equivalent to a Master of Science), Caprara completed a Master of Public Administration in 2000 at the Institut des hautes études en administration publique (Idhéap) in Lausanne. Since then, his professional path has been closely linked to the histories of both CST and Macolin. Immediately after his studies, he took on the role of Technical Director at CST, and following the centre’s full acquisition by the Swiss Confederation, he was appointed Head of the CST.

Under his leadership, the CST has undergone significant expansion and development, becoming a national cornerstone for promoting sport among children and young people, both at grassroots and competitive levels.
