An active and fun New Year’s getaway — a perfect mix of sport, nature, and great company!
Five days to experience the mountain in all its forms: ski or snowboard lessons, a day of cross-country skiing, and a snowshoe hike through Ticino’s snowy landscapes.
An ideal experience for those who want to learn or improve their technique while sharing a passion for snow in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
On December 31, we’ll celebrate the New Year together at the Casa della Sostenibilità, enjoying a cozy and joyful evening in good company.
Indicative Program
Saturday, December 28 – Arrival and Welcome
Arrival in the evening in Airolo, check-in at the Casa della Sostenibilità, and welcome dinner.
Presentation of the program and group allocation for the ski and snowboard courses.
Sunday, December 29 – Tuesday, December 31 – Ski or Snowboard Courses (Airolo–Pesciüm)
Three days of lessons with qualified instructors, including 2 hours of training per day (included in the price).
Lessons are divided by level:
- Beginners: For those who have never skied/snowboarded before or who have taken their first steps but cannot yet make snowplough turns.
- Improvers: Able to brake using the snowplough and make basic snowplough turns on blue slopes. For snowboarders: able to sideslip down blue slopes and use the magic carpet lift.
- Intermediate: Able to perform linked snowplough turns on red slopes. For snowboarders: able to ride both toe- and heelside turns on red slopes and use the ski lift or button lift independently.
Extra lesson hours can be added on-site (CHF 10/hour).
The rest of the day is free for personal practice, rest, or relaxation.
Wednesday, January 1 – Cross-Country Skiing in Val Bedretto
A day to discover or improve your cross-country skiing technique in a peaceful and scenic alpine setting.
Suitable for all levels.
Thursday, January 2 – Snowshoe Hike and Camp Closure
A panoramic snowshoe walk through forests and snowy meadows — the perfect way to end the week in a calm and refreshing atmosphere.
Personal Equipment
Participants must come with appropriate sports clothing for the activity.
We recommend dressing in layers for outdoor activities — further information will be provided to participants before the event.
Equipment Provided by the Sports Service (Daily fee: 20 CHF, to be paid directly on site)

Accommodation and Meals
Overnight stay at the Casa della Sostenibilità in Airolo, in 6-bed rooms.
Breakfast and dinner are included and organized on-site.
Any food intolerances or allergies must be communicated at the time of registration.
Want to help us be more sustainable?
Bring your own bed linen set (pillowcase 50×70, mattress cover 80×200, and duvet cover 140×200).
Alternatively, you can rent a complete set on-site for 15 CHF.
Transport
The Sports Service offers all participants train transportation to and from Airolo — an eco-friendly choice that reduces environmental impact and ensures a comfortable journey for everyone.
During the weekend, the Airolo–Andermatt (round trip) transfer will be organized with group trains at specific times.
Price
- USI/SUPSI students: 225 CHF
- USI/SUPSI staff and faculty, USI Alumni, students from other Swiss universities: 325 CHF
- Accompanying persons/family members, SUPSI Alumni: 400 CHF
At the time of purchase, the participant’s university card category (student, staff, or faculty) will be used as the official reference.
Registration and payment
By proceeding with the purchase, the user accepts the instructions and rules of conduct of the Sport Service, available in the section "Attachments"
Refund policy
- 100% refund upon presentation of a medical certificate
- 80% refund within 2 weeks of the camp
- 50% refund within 1 week of the camp
- No refund less than one week before the camp, as in the case of non-attendance
- If the Sports Service cancels the camp due to bad weather or organizational reasons, participants will receive a full refund of the amount paid.
